Individual therapy

Where family patternsmeet the adult you.

A grounded hour that’s yours, untangling guilt from responsibility and practising the true thing out loud.

From the outside, your life looks solid. Career. Stability. Responsibility handled.

Everyone thinks you’re fine. But you feel the tension underneath.

You learned early how to read people to stay alert, anticipate moods, and avoid getting hurt.

Around your parents, something shifts. You feel younger. More reactive. Quicker to explain, defend, or shut down.

And then later, you notice it: That same tension shows up at work. With friends. With your partner.

Individual therapy with me focuses on the patterns you learned in your family and how they quietly shape your adult relationships.

We don’t rush to fix anything. We get curious.

We look at:

  • Why certain comments from mama or papa still hit so hard
  • Why guilt shows up when you set boundaries
  • Why your body reacts before your mind catches up
  • Why being “the strong one” now feels exhausting instead of empowering

Using inner-child and parts-based work (IFS), we listen to the younger parts of you that learned how to protect, adapt, and survive.

Not to blame the past but to loosen its grip.

This work helps you:

  • Respond instead of react
  • Stay grounded without over-explaining
  • Separate who you are now from who you had to be then

This is therapy that honors your cultural context, your nervous system, and your pace.

Book a session before your old patterns keep running new chapters of your life.

Common questions about individual therapy

High-functioning Latina women who look "fine" on the outside but feel emotional reactivity, family-pattern fatigue, or tension in close relationships underneath. You want to respond instead of react, and separate who you are now from who you had to be then.

Sessions are 50 minutes, and I require weekly sessions. Trauma work can’t happen twice a month, it needs consistency, and depending on your goals we might even start at twice a week. This is long term work, but I won’t stall you, and I won’t leave you before you’re ready either. As you get stronger, we taper down together, sometimes to once a month for a stretch before we end.

I wish healing worked like a drive through, but it doesn’t. If you’ve been carrying something for years, we’re not undoing it in three sessions. What I can promise is that I move as fast as it’s safely possible to move, and I won’t keep you here longer than you need to be.

I integrate inner-child work, Internal Family Systems (IFS, parts-based work), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, and trauma-informed approaches. I match the method to what you bring in, not the other way around.

Yes. Sessions can be conducted in English, Spanish, or a fluid mix of both, whichever lets you say what you actually mean.

Both. In person, my office is centrally located off 59 South on Greenbriar, easy to get to no matter where in Houston you’re coming from. I’m licensed in Texas only, so virtual sessions are available anywhere in the state. See the office and rates.

One short call. You talk, I listen, and we decide together whether I’m the right person for this.
