Insurance & Superbills

Out-of-Network Provider

I'm an out-of-network provider and don't bill insurance directly. This keeps your care flexible, confidential, and free from the limitations insurance companies often place on treatment.

How a Superbill works

  1. You pay for your session at the time of service.
  2. I provide you with a superbill (issued quarterly, or upon request).
  3. You submit the superbill directly to your insurance provider.
  4. Your insurer reviews the claim and may reimburse a portion of the cost.

Good to know: Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific plan and out-of-network benefits.

I don’t accept insurance directly, but I provide superbills every three months so you can seek reimbursement. If you have an HSA card, check with your insurance, since it can sometimes cover out-of-network benefits. And don’t sleep on checking your regular insurance either. I know calling them is a hassle (been there, done that), but if you work for a major company, they can surprise you with genuinely great out-of-network benefits. I’m also on Curative’s insurance panel as an out-of-network provider, so if you have Curative, you’re seen at my full rate while they cover it directly.

It’s going to cost you maybe some tears, but don’t worry, I have tissues and blankets so you can cuddle up. It’s going to cost you some discomfort too, that’s a given. If you’re not at least a little uncomfortable, we’re not going deep enough, and I do go deep. My rate is $240 for a 50 minute session. We go deep, and then we go home. What that buys you: someone who won’t stall you, who pushes for the fastest real progress possible, and goes at your pace at the same time. I explain things along the way too, because I’ve been on both sides of this couch, so I always keep you in mind. I don’t do quick fixes, and I don’t believe in keeping you here longer than you actually need to be. Think of it as an investment with an actual end date in sight. Most of that work happens in individual therapy.

I won’t pretend $240 is pocket change. But let’s actually add it up, what you’re already spending trying to feel better. The concerts you use as therapy, fun in the moment, gone by Monday. The vitamins that promise everything and change nothing. The extra takeout because you’re too tired to cook. The extra drink to shake off the bad ju ju you’re carrying. None of it actually moves the needle. So ask yourself, what’s it going to cost you if nothing’s different six months from now? Another six months of feeling like roommates instead of partners. Another six months of no sleep. Another six months of swallowing your wins because what’s the point. I’m not selling you sessions, I’m selling you finally feeling at peace, so you don’t have to keep carrying it alone. If you want to know who you’d be doing that with, here’s more about me.

I offer both virtual and in person sessions. In person, my office is centrally located off 59 South on Greenbriar, easy to get to no matter where in Houston you’re coming from, and you can see the office here. I’m licensed in Texas only, so virtual sessions are available anywhere in the state.

EMDR and trauma work can’t happen twice a month, it needs consistency, so I require weekly sessions. Depending on your goals, we might even start at twice a week. This is long term work, but I won’t stall you, and I won’t leave you before you’re ready either. As you get stronger, we taper down together, sometimes to once a month for a stretch before we end. I’ve been on both sides of this, as the client and the therapist, and I believe therapy should end the way a good breakup does: clean, respectful, and right on time, not something that drags on past its purpose.

EMDR is different from regular talk therapy. Most people come in expecting to just talk for most of the session, but that’s not really what happens. Instead, you’ll focus on a specific image while you use handheld buzzers or follow a dot moving right to left on a screen, your choice. I explain everything step by step, so you always know what’s happening next. It’s a little like riding a bike, it feels strange until you’ve done it once, and then it just comes naturally.

I wish healing worked like a drive through, but it doesn’t. If you’ve been carrying something for years, we’re not undoing it in three sessions. What I can promise is that I move as fast as it’s safely possible to move, and I won’t keep you here longer than you need to be.

I don’t take on couples directly, but relationship work, especially what makes people feel emotionally safe with each other, is woven into almost everything we do together in session. That work has its own home here: couples counseling for one. If you want dedicated couples therapy though, I have fantastic couples therapists I refer to, both male and female, in person or virtual, so you can find whoever’s the right fit for the two of you.
